The American Revolution (Related to France)

In 1777, the Battle at Saratoga took place. This battle was fought between the British and the Colonists who were at war with each other for independence. This battle was also nicknamed the turning point of the American Revolution in which the colonists started to defeat the British. This was also the battle in where the French decided to aid the colonists to defeat Britian. From the start of the American Revolution, the French had always been wanting to get rid of the British and were watching very closely at the colonists performances in the battles. When they had observed their performance at the Battle of Saratoga, they decided to join forces with the colonists to help them win more battles against the British. One major thing that France had, and the colonists didn't have, was a navy. This was very helpful for the colonists to win more battles because since the British had a navy, they could escape overseas easily and get away from the colonists. Since the French were on the colonists side, they had a seperate naval fleet that would block the British ships and decrease their chances of escaping. This technique was especially helpful in the battle of Yorktown because since Yorktown is a peninsula, the French had blocked off all water escape routes and the colonists had blocked them from escaping on land, which forced the British to surrender.
